What are the HealthStrong wristbands all about? Well, we thought about the options we have of showing our support for health care reform in this country. These are:

• Town Hall Forums are not always easy to get to. And of course there are those confrontational, shouting people with guns to contend with as well.
• Writing a letter. You can write an email or letter, or call a member of congress, or sign a petition, but you’re often left wondering if your message really counted. And are they really held accountable for that? It feels too easy for congress to ignore a petition when there are health care lobbyists spending millions each day!
• What else is there? We could organize a rally in DC, but again, we’d be left wondering what impact we really had.

People in favor of health care reform need a safe, affordable option to show their united support of health care reform. Wearing your HealthStrong wristband can make you a part of a national movement that Washington DC cannot ignore.

Why are the wristbands black? We wear black in honor of the thousands of Americans who die each year because they do not have access to health care. We wear black to show our determination in honor of the thousands more Americans who have access to health care, but are denied necessary care because of administrative red-tape (i.e., pre-existing conditions) to increase profits of health care companies who are pillaging the system for billions of dollars every year. It is time to be up in arms about this serious issue – with a HealthStrong wristband on your arm!

How do I order the wristbands? Right now we’re trying to get as many people as possible to wear the wristband, so we’re basically accepting donations to just cover the cost of producing and shipping them.
